what is the KEEP K'gari CLEAN PROJECT
Caring for our planet has always been at the heart of what we do. Since founding our company, we’ve stood proudly alongside the Butchulla people to protect and care for K’gari Country. Since 2018, we’ve hosted 11 official Beach Clean-Ups, welcoming over 500 volunteers to roll up their sleeves and make a difference. In fact, our very first trip back after the Rona was a K’gari Fraser Island clean-up—it’s that important to us!
Through all our tours and stays on K’gari, we’ve made it our mission to educate our guests and invite them to join us in preserving this magical place. It’s been incredibly inspiring to see just how many people care deeply enough to go the extra mile, even when they’re on their holidays – our guests are so awesome!
The Keep K’gari Clean Project is about diving deeper, rolling up our sleeves higher, and tackling the marine debris problem head-on. K’gari needs our help, and while the plastic problem isn’t going away anytime soon, we have a plan to make a real impact here on K’gari Fraser Island.
Together, we can protect this stunning island and ensure it stays as pristine and magical as ever.

WHY IT’S NEEDED
🌊 DID YOU KNOW?
More than 80% of the rubbish found on K’gari is brought in by the ocean—not left behind by visitors. Rubbish found at the lakes and on the island tracks is a different story though sadly. Over our many years of cleaning the island’s iconic 75 Mile Beach, we’ve collected data, removed tonnes of marine debris, and even managed to divert much of it from landfill. Our experience and the feedback from our hundreds of volunteers has shaped the Keep K’gari Clean Project, a community-driven K’gari Fraser Island clean-up initiative designed to protect this extraordinary island for us now and future generations.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
With the blessings of the Butchulla People, Team Drop Bear has partnered with local businesses and residents to host this 13-day cleanup along the island’s stunning coastline. Join us for a leg of this unforgettable journey with our founders Hana & Mark. Walk 20kms over 2.5 days picking up rubbish. Help us raise funds and promote the awareness of plastic pollution in your community through your social channels.
